Something Beautiful

I am a very blessed woman. I have the honor of creating layouts for two of the sweetest women in the world, Amy and Dana (a.k.a. AmyDane Designs). They willingly agreed to design a beautiful kit in memory of my husband's daughter, Kiya. Later this month, on 1/28/2011, it'll be five years since she passed away.

The kit is called Something Beautiful, available at Stuff to Scrap and currently on sale. It is perfect for black and white or color photos and I think the color scheme is especially great for wintry pictures.

Each time my husband sees a butterfly, he thinks of Kiya; we say she is flying with the butterflies. She lived for 5 ½ years with cerebral palsy, battling surgeries and many illnesses. Through it all, she always had the most amazing smile & laugh. There’s something beautiful about those moments in your child’s life that may seem insignificant to others – my husband can remember all those moments with Kiya. The next time you see a butterfly, remember all those parents who have lost a child and remember to hug your child every night.

Here are my layouts of lil' Miss Kiya...

The 1st one here is her laying with her little brother Jaxon.

These pictures were actually in the paper. These dogs came to visit her as a form of therapy.
Look at that gorgeous smile!!

And here is the amazing kit. Click the image to take you to the STS Store.

The January Use It or Lose It Challenge is being hosted by AmyDane Designs. Check out the coordinating Add-On to Something Beautiful for the challenge.

  2. In my 20 years as a pediatric nurse, I have taken care of many children with CP. Those children, along with the Down's syndrome children, are among some of the happiest children I have ever met. They are a lot of work, but they make it such a joy to help them and work with them. I'm sure you guys miss her bunches. You are truly blessed to have had her in your life.

  3. Tammy, this really is "something beautiful". It has brought tears to my eyes...and now I am going to go and hug my kids in their beds. Whenever I see a butterfly I will think of Kiya. Thanks for sharing these pictures and your story.
